2. Wash your hand using soap and water and if suggested by the doctor you may want to wear sterile or disposable gloves. 
3. If he is uncircumcised, gently pull back the foreskin and clean the head of the penis and the penis tip using mild soap and water or a sterilizing wipe in a circular motion, starting at the urethra and going outwards.
4. Hold the penis on both sides, straight away from the body.
5. Open the catheter and prepare it according to the instructions for use supplied by the manufacturer or as the doctor instructed. Lubricate the catheter if instructed by the doctor.
6. Gently insert the catheter into the urethra and wait for the urine to start to drain. Continue to insert the catheter an inch further into the urethra. Hold in place until urine is done draining. 
   * If you are using a curved tip catheter (Coudé) insert the catheter with the curved tip pointing at the ceiling. 

7. Cuando la orina deje de drenar, comience a retirar lentamente la sonda mientras la gira lentamente. 
8. Si utiliza una sonda de punta curva (Coudé), no la gire. Es posible que salga algo de orina al retirar la sonda. 
9. Make sure the bladder is completely empty and the catheter is entirely drained out.
10. Deseche la sonda después de completar el proceso de cateterización y lávese las manos de nuevo con agua tibia y jabón.
